Spring time always brings an adorable yet challenging situation for Dierenambulance - animal aid organisation in Nijmegen. Orphaned baby bunnies and hares desperately need bottle-feeding, but this requires a lot of volunteers. At the same time, Dierenambulance should keep human interaction at a minimum since the bunnies need to be released back to nature. That is where the students from the Empower Program step in with their innovative solutions.
These Empower students are currently developing an innovative 3D-printed solution to simplify the bottle-feeding process. Their dedication and ingenuity have sparked motivation in everyone involved - from the students to the teachers and the collaborating organisation. The impact of their collaboration is remarkable. Check out the video that showcases the first prototype that the students created and tested.
For Empower students, this project is not just about gaining work experience but also about contributing to a meaningful cause. "It's unique to work for a purpose that directly impacts animal welfare. It was a good way to practice for the real world," says Empower student Bente, while Sam adds, "This challenge taught me the importance of prototyping and testing in real life."
The collaboration between Empower students and Dierenambulance Nijmegen has brought fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to the table. Dierenambulance Coordinator Paul Deuning notes, "Young people have very different ideas, like 3D printing a solution for this problem - something I would have never thought of!" And Empower coach Milou Kauffman, who deeply cares about animal welfare, was moved by the students' work. "Seeing their dedication brought tears to my eyes," she says.
In conclusion, the collaboration between Empower students and Dierenambulance Nijmegen showcases the incredible impact of young minds working together. The students gain valuable work experience while improving animal welfare for orphaned baby hares and rabbits. Dierenambulance Coordinator Paul Deuning and Empower coach Milou Kauffman are impressed by the students' efforts, which have made a lasting impression. With their innovative 3D-printed solution, Dierenambulance Nijmegen is better equipped to care for these animals in spring time. The positive impact of this collaboration will continue in the community, benefiting both the animals and the students who have contributed to this meaningful cause.
